Stan State’s Study Abroad Scholarship Opportunities

Stan State’s University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC) Scholarship

The USAC scholarship awards will range from $250 – $1,000 and will be applied directly to the selected students’ USAC fees. This scholarship is separate from the scholarships on your USAC Portal.

Scholarship Requirements:
  1. A completed Study Abroad Scholarship Application
  2. Scholarships are only available to Stanislaus State students participating in USAC programs
  3. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
  4. 1-page, double spaced service-based statement of purpose

ASI’s Study Abroad Scholarship

ASI is offering ten $500.00 scholarships to Study Abroad students. The scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit and community service. The award will be applied during the term the student is studying abroad. Documents/Requirements:

Scholarship Requirements

  2. This scholarship is only available to Stanislaus State students participating in USAC, CSU IP or Stan State Exchange programs
  3. Must have at least a 2.5 GPA

Gilman Scholarship for Study Abroad

Award:
$2,000 – $5,000

Scholarship Requirements:
  • Must be receiving need-based federal financial aid

Fund for Education Abroad

Award:
Up to $5,000 for a semester abroad

Scholarship Requirements:
  • A U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a U.S. college or university.
  • Receiving college credit at Stan State.

Freeman Asia Scholarship for Study in East and Southeast Asia

Award:
$3,000 for summer, $5,000 for semester, $7,000 for academic year programs

Scholarship Requirements:
  • Must have verifiable need for financial assistance

Marshall Scholarships

Award:
50 scholarships for one, two or three year basis that includes tuition fees, personal allowance for housing and living costs, books and travel to and from the US.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be an American citizen at the time of application
  • Apply within two years of graduating from their undergraduate university
  • Must have a GPA of 3.7 or higher.
  • Studying in the UK but cannot be studying for or hold a British degree

Diverse International Women Of Color Study Abroad Scholarship 

Award: $500 scholarships

Scholarship Requirements:
  • Be a women of color but not limited to Black or African-American, Native American, Hispanic/Latina and Asian.
  • Must be a student and attend college or university in the United States.
  • Must have a GPA of 2.7 or higher.
  • Accepted to study abroad program (international internship is included).

Toshizo Watanabe Study Abroad Scholarship

Scholarship Requirements:
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Currently in good academic standing at an accredited college or university in the United States.
  • Undergraduate and graduate students (international study by the means of study abroad program or independently enrolling as a degree-seeking students)
  • Will be enrolled in an exchange program or credit-bearing course of study at a university or approved academic center in Japan in the upcoming academic year. Applicants who have not confirmed a school or are already enrolled in a Japanese school as a degree-seeking student are eligible. Cannot be used for language schools.
  • Demonstrates financial need for international study (i.e., would not be able to pursue international study without financial assistance or support)
  • Priority given to undergraduates. Graduate students and international degree-seeking students may also apply.

Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Scholarship Requirements:
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or currently studying in the United States on a student visa
  • Be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at a four-year, degree-granting college or university in the United States
  • Have applied to or been accepted into a study abroad program eligible for credit by your college or university

The Killam Undergraduate Fellowship For Americans

Scholarship Requirements:
  • Be U.S. citizens
  • Be full-time undergraduate students in good standing at a fully accredited degree-granting college or university in the United States
  • Have met the eligibility requirements of their home university (as they relate to participation in international exchange programs)
  • Be fluent in the English language (and/or French, where appropriate)
  • Have a superior and competitive academic record
  • Complete the application process prior to the published deadlines, and
  • In the case of the direct exchange applicants, be nominated by one’s home university.

David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships for Study Abroad

National Security Exchange Program (NSEP)

Countries not included in NSEP: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Western Europe

Award:
$2,500 summer, $4,000 semester, $6,000 – $10,000 academic year

Scholarship Requirements:
  • Preference given for study in areas deemed critical to national security

Award:
20 awards nationwide of $1,000 each

  • Minimum GPA of 3.75

Central Valley Hispanic Foundation Scholarship

Award: $500

Scholarship Requirements:
  • Must be a full-time student attending High School, Vocational College, Community College or a University
  • Must have a 2.50 GPA minimum
