This course examines grants from a start to finish ideology; writing the grant, and managing its utilization such that paradigms of effectiveness and efficiency are addressed. This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to seek, solicit, and receive grant awards from foundation and government sources to support public and non-profit endeavors. The course also teaches effective grants management to provide the greatest value to the organization and to the granting agency. Students become proficient in the process of grant management but also have the responsibility and ethical understanding of the grant enterprise, its purpose, and its benefits in the nonprofit sector. This is an activity and project-based course. The learning is hands-on, and as such students will be evaluated for the practical knowledge they demonstrate in completing assignments and projects.
