The post-master’s certificate provides nurses with a
master’s degree in nursing with an educational route to the
psychiatric mental health advanced practice specialty.
To succeed, the post-master’s certificate students must
complete all didactic and clinical requirements in
thepsychiatric mental health specialty. To obtain a postgraduate
certificate in the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner
specialty, students are required to complete a minimum of 612
supervised hours in direct psychiatric patient care.
The program of study includes academic and clinical courses.
After the program, students are awarded a post-graduate
certificate as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the
specialty of Psychiatric Mental Health. Graduates of the
post-master’s certificate are eligible to sit for the
National Board Examination, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse
Practitioner (Across the Lifespan) Certification (PMHNP-BC™)
through the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing
Certification (ANCC certification).

- Course may only be taken to complete the Post Graduate PMHNP
certificate
- Total Practicum Hours: 612 hours of direct patient
contact sublimated by simulation (no more than 25% as regulated
by the Board of Registered Nursing)
